Guarantee of Origin
Guarantees of Origin (GOs) transparently document the energy sources from which the supplied electricity originates—such as water, solar, wind, or other renewable and conventional sources. They enable energy suppliers to demonstrate the composition of their electricity to their customers and label products accordingly.
The system is subject to constant adjustments due to new laws, regulations, and publications, such as amendments to the Energy Act or the Electricity Supply Act. For companies, this means they must continuously stay up-to-date in order to report in compliance with the law and, at the same time, successfully market sustainable products.
I offer comprehensive consulting on guarantees of origin, electricity labeling, and regulatory changes to ensure your company is always properly informed, recognizes opportunities, and efficiently implements requirements.

Guarantees of Origin

In Switzerland, Guarantees of Origin (GOOs) are issued and managed centrally via the Pronovo system. They transparently document the sources from which each kilowatt-hour of electricity originates, regardless of the physical flow of electricity. Energy suppliers are required to use these certificates to accurately display electricity labeling and disclose this information to their customers.

In Europe, too, guarantees of origin serve to clearly declare the origin of electricity and make it tradable across borders. They promote transparency in the liberalized electricity market and enable suppliers to market renewable energies visibly. They are thus a key tool for advancing climate goals and sustainable electricity trading across Europe.
