Guarantees of Origin (GOs) transparently document the energy sources from which the supplied electricity originates—such as water, solar, wind, or other renewable and conventional sources. They enable energy suppliers to demonstrate the composition of their electricity to their customers and label products accordingly.

In Switzerland, Guarantees of Origin (GOOs) are issued and managed centrally via the Pronovo system. They transparently document the sources from which each kilowatt-hour of electricity originates, regardless of the physical flow of electricity. Energy suppliers are required to use these certificates to accurately display electricity labeling and disclose this information to their customers.
